We’re in the final month of planning for the first annual Night of Heroes – a gala celebration on June 4th hosted by Danny Glover and honoring Florida’s DNA exonerees for their strength and fortitude during their years of wrongful incarceration. Learn more about the event, become a sponsor or buy tickets here.
I met Mr. Glover this past weekend as part of the promotional plan for this extraordinary event. For those of you in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, watch for the PSA with Mr. Glover. He has had a distinguished career as an actor, director and producer and has performed in the play The Exonerated. According to imdb.com,
“Glover has also gained respect for his wide-reaching community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a particular emphasis on advocacy for economic justice, and access to health care and education programs in the United States and Africa. For these efforts, Glover received a 2006 DGA Honor. Internationally, Glover has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program from 1998-2004, focusing on issues of poverty, disease, and economic development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and currently serves as UNICEF Ambassador.”
It was meeting James Bain earlier this year and learning of James’ story of 35 years of wrongful incarceration that began Mr. Glover’s involvement in our event. We are so honored for him to be participating in a Night of Heroes and grateful that he took time out of his busy schedule to tape a message that we hope will inspire many to attend the gala and help us unlock the truth for the wrongfully convicted in Florida.
We hope you’ll join us for the Night of Heroes. Come meet Mr. Glover, several other movie and sports celebrities, and a number of Florida DNA exonerees.
