NATHAN MYERS AND CLIFFORD WILLIAMS EXONERATED

Fourth Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office CIU investigation leads to exoneration of two men nearly 43 years after wrongful conviction.

This is the first exoneration in the State of Florida led by a conviction integrity review (CIR) investigation into claims of actual innocence.

Seth Miller and Krista Dolan, attorneys with the Innocence Project of Florida (IPF), filed a motion to vacate Mr. Myer’s conviction and sentence, while George E. “Buddy” Schulz Jr. of Holland & Knight filed a nearly identical motion on behalf of Mr. Williams.

In a short hearing on March 28, 2019, Circuit Judge Angela M. Cox vacated the convictions paving the way for their release.
